MARÍA CONCEPCIÓN TORRES DÍAZ holds a PhD in Law. LECTURER (acreditted as full professor) in Constitutional Law at the University of Alicante (UA) Faculty of Law in the State Legal Studies Department. She currently works exclusively in teaching and research. Expert in constitutional justice, bioethics, biorights and biopower, ICT rights, equality and non-discrimination, anti-discrimination protection, legal feminism and the sex-gender perspective as a legal methodology. Feminist jurist. Lawyer registered with the Murcia Bar Association (member number 4337) since September 2002. She has worked as a lawyer and legal adviser from more than 20 years (2003-2024), having combined if with her position as an associate lecturer at the University of Alicante (2008-2023), and as an external assistant lecturer at the Spanish Distance Education University (UNED) and the Jaume I University (UJI) for 15 years. Researcher at the University Institute for Gender Studies Research (IUIEG) of the University of Alicante since 2021. Also member of the Constitutional Studies Group of the State and the European Union (GECO_UE).
She has pursued an ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER as (a) a university and research with extensive experience (more than 17 years) at the University of Alicante (five 3 year activity periods recognised plus a 5-year teaching activity period and a 6-year research activity period), the UNED and the UJI. LINES OF RESEARCH (resume): In the field of research, her priority lines of research focus on the analysis of constitutional law from a sex-gender perspective (feminist epistemology and methodology) and critical constitutionalism, legal feminism as an interpretative framework for human rights, the legal construction of women’s bodies and the implications for the legal and political subjectivity of subjects, the impact of new technologies on fundamental rights (freedom of intormation, data protection, transparency, etc.), citizen participation as an instrument of human rights (freedom of information, data protection, transparency, etc.), and the role of the media in the development of the human rights of women, citizen participation as an instrument of democratic quality, the guarantees of fundamental rights as a framework for shaping current democracies, bioethics issues, the development of bio-rights and bio-power, education in ‘non-violence’, Constitutional Justice and the procedures of jurisidtional control of constitutionality, as well as the right of access to justice from the legal praxis of the forum.
ASSOCIATIONS: She is currently Vice President of the academic network “Red Feminista de Derecho Constitucional” (RFDC). She has been Secretary (RFDC) during the period 2011-2021, and member between 2021-2025. She has been a member of the Management Board of the University Platform for Feminist and Gender Studies (EUFEM) (2017-2021). She is also a member of the Association of Constitutionalists of Spain (ACOES), member of the Ibero-American Institute of Constitucional Law (IIDC), member of the Feminist University Network for Equality Policies (REUNIFEM), member of the Red GENET Network of Gender Studies (RED-GENET), member of the Spanish Professional Privacy Association (APEP), member of the Network of Specialists in Information and Communication Technologies Rights (ITC Rigths), and external collaborator in Equalitat Participation and equality (EQUALITAT).
TRANSFER (resume): She has been an expert member of the Technical-Legal Commission of the Working and Study Group for the drafting of the first Protocol against sexual harassment, based on gender and sexual orientation, of the UA (2015), led by the Vice-Rector for Campus and Sustainability and coordinated by the Equality Unit. She participated as a speaker (opening conference) in the establishment of the “Equality and Gender” Working Group of the Xarxa Vives, addressing the issue of university protocols against harassment. She has been part of the UAWorking Groupfor the development of the Individualized Care Plan for women victims of gender violence and their children (PAI) in the Valencian Community. She has appeared as an expert before the Subcommittee on Social Media established within the Interior Committee of the Congress of the 10th Legislature to report on the protection of minors on social media (2014). She has participated as a researcher for the UA in the European Projects Hands Ups (2016-18) and Budget-it (2022-25). As part of the European Hands Up Project, she was responsible for defending the National Action Plan presentation for the elimination of corporal punishment of minors in the European Parliament (March 2018). She has participated as an expert in the commissions on Participation and Women, Gender Violence and Coeducation and the Image of Women for the preparation of the report on the Strategic Plan for Equal Opportunities (PEOI) (2018-21). She has directed and taughtthe course “Legal framework and practical approach to the elimination of corporal punishment of minors” aimed at training professionals in the legal, education, health, and social services fields within the framework of the European Hands Up Project. She appeared as an expert before the Commission for Coordination, Organisation and Regulation of the Institutions of the Generalitat (2018) during the public participation phase of the procedure for processing the proposed Valencian electoral law.. She has participated as an expertin advising the Universities of Vigo and Cantabria, respectively, within the framework of their anti-harassment protocols. She has participated as an expert appointed by the Regional Ministry of Justice and the Interior of the Valencian Regional Government in the Executive Report “Valencian Forum for the Abolition of Prostitution” (2021). She has participated as a trainer, alongside two other professors from the University of Alicante, in the first training course on gender perspective assessment in the ANECA microcredit format (2022). She has advised the AFIN Center as an expert lawyer in the context of the research project on early pregnancy loss and its legal implications, having participated as a speaker and the round table dicussion «Rethinking support for early pregnancy loss» at the public conference «Early Pregnancy Loss» held on October 15, 2024 at the Santa Creu and San Pau Hospital in Barcelona on the ocassion of International Perinatal Bereavement Day. She has been a member – as an expert – of the jury for the Third Equality Award of the University of Vigo (2022).

MARÍA CONCEPCIÓN TORRES DÍAZ es Doctora en Derecho. PROFESORA universitaria acreditada a Titular por la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación (ANECA) en el área de Derecho Constitucional del Departamento de Estudios Jurídicos del Estado (Facultad de Derecho. Universidad de Alicante). Actualmente, con dedicación exclusiva a las tareas docentes e investigadoras. Experta en justicia constitucional, transparencia y participación política, bioética, bioderechos y biopoder, derechos y tecnologías de la información y comunicación, IA, etc. Especial mención cabe realizar a sus investigaciones y estudios jurídicos sobre igualdad y no discriminación, eficacia normativa, tutela antidiscriminatoria, iusfeminismo y perspectiva sexo-género como metodología jurídica. Jurista feminista. Colegiada nº 4337 en el Ilustre Colegio de Abogacía de Murcia (ICAMUR) desde septiembre de 2002. Ha sido abogada y asesora jurídica durante veintiún años (2003-2024), habiendo compatibilizado durante quince años (2008-2023) la actividad profesional de abogacía en despacho propio con la docencia universitaria e investigación en calidad de profesora asociada en la Universidad de Alicante, y como profesora colaboradora externa en la UNED–UJI. Desde el año 2021 es investigadora en el Instituto Universitario de Investigación de Estudios de Género (IUIEG) de la Universidad de Alicante. LÍNEAS DE INVESTIGACIÓN (resumen): En el ámbito de la investigación sus líneas prioritarias se centran en el análisis del derecho constitucional desde la perspectiva sexo-género (epistemología y metodología feminista), el constitucionalismo crítico, el feminismo jurídico como marco interpretador de los derechos humanos, la construcción jurídica sobre los cuerpos de las mujeres, y sus implicaciones en la subjetividad jurídica y política de los sujetos; la tutela antidiscriminatoria; la incidencia de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación en los derechos fundamentales (libertades informativas, autotutela informativa, transparencia, IA, Justicia predictiva, etc.); la participación ciudadana como instrumento de mejora democrática; las garantías de los derechos fundamentales como marco configurador de las actuales democracias; los temas de bioética, el desarrollo de los bio-derechos y el bio-poder, y su implicación en los neuro-datos; la educación en la «no violencia»; la Justicia Constitucional y los procedimientos de control jurisdiccional de constitucionalidad, así como el derecho de acceso a la justicia desde la praxis jurídica del foro.
ASOCIACIONES: Actualmente, es Vicepresidenta de la red académica «Red Feminista de Derecho Constitucional» (RFDC). Ha sido Secretaria (RFDC) durante el periodo 2011-2021, y vocal entre 2021-2025. Ha sido vocal en la Junta Gestora de la Plataforma Universitaria de Estudios Feministas y de Género (EUFEM) (2017-2021). TRANSFERENCIA (resumen): Ha formado parte como Experta de la Comisión Técnica-Jurídica del Grupo de trabajo y estudio para la elaboración del primer Protocolo contra el acoso sexual, por razón de sexo y de orientación sexual de la UA (2015) (y, su modificación en 2019), dirigido por el Vicerrector de Campus y Sostenibilidad, y coordinado por la Unidad de Igualdad, habiendo participado como ponente (conferencia inaugural) en la constitución del Grupo de Trabajo “Igualdad y Género” de la Xarxa Vives abordando el tema de los protocolos universitarios contra el acoso. Ha formado parte del Grupo de trabajo de la UA para la elaboración del Plan de atención individualizado a mujeres víctimas de violencia de género y a sus hijos e hijas (PAI) de la Comunitat Valenciana. Ha comparecido en calidad de Experta ante la Subcomisión de Estudio sobre las Redes Sociales constituida en el seno de la Comisión de Interior del Congreso de la X Legislatura del Congreso para informar sobre la protección de menores en las redes sociales (2014). Ha formado parte en calidad de investigadora por la UA en los Proyectos Europeos Hands Ups (2016-18) y Budget-it (2022-25). En el marco del Proyecto Europeo Hands Up ha sido la encargada de defender en el Parlamento europeo (marzo 2018) el Plan de Acción Nacional (National Assessment and National Action Plan presentation) para la eliminación del castigo corporal a menores.
